Dr. No Set in Port Royal

Some fifty two years ago, a young Sean Connery as British super spy James Bond brought the pages of Ian Fleming's Dr. No to life. But some people feel the real star of the movie was the island of Jamaica itself. Today we are featuring one of the movie set locations in Port Royal. This photo was taken on Monday at The Grand Port Royal Hotel, formerly the Morgan's Harbour Hotel and Marina. The orginal bar is still there (with some major improvements made in the last 50 years) as is the actual room where the famous Bond "spider" scene was filmed (room 105). Port Royal has had more than its share of historical events since it was founded in 1509!
