I think I saw you there but didn't make the connection. We did Friday and Saturday night. Friday was the best set of music I have seen in years. Fred Tackett dedicated a tune to us on Friday night. He is a great guy and loves Jamaica. We visited with him and his wife Patricia for quite a while before the show Friday. He took his mandolin to the beach bar and jammed with the Overtakers after the friday show. He owns a house close to us now in addition to the ranch in California. He Jams with some of the people I play with and might make it to our Spring Jam.. We danced with Patricia and Billy Payne's wife friday night.. Be a Traveler

youre too cruel selvin! take us on a journey to mayfield falls and STOP to rest with a soon come before we even reach the wataa!!!
is ok... i know you like to tease. what is this new strategy, fotographic foreplay? building up to the climatic cinematographic splash of negative ions...? can you do the grand finale in video for us please. i got some great .avi's though cant figure out how to post them. 'nuff thanks for the continual vicarious pictoral journey you take folks on each time you make a click with your camera or catch a move with your video. i also know how much time and energy you put into your work, from lugging your equipment around to getting to your destination to shooting to previewing to downloading to uploading to posting or printing... appreciate it all sel. you do good work. no... you do great work. if any of you havent seen dreadnecks photos as a large sized hard-copy print, matted and framed, you are missing some amazing photography. same way with vict's paintings. eventually both their works are going to be out of my price range... one good gallery show and everything changes! my suggestion to all you faithful followers...? buy 'em while you can still afford 'em! ah nuh joke bidnizz. After dealing with all those steps and the wooden bridge, I needed a rest! Anyway, while walking through the lush landscaping leading to the falls area, I wondered why so little mention is made of the spectacular beauty of the surrounding land. After a short walk, I was rewarded with my first views of the river. One of the young men in the foreground of the first photo, Dave, became my excellent guide and assistant throughout the river walk.
Dave showing me the root that goes into making curry powder.
Dave shooting video and pointing out the wicker vines.

WOW!!!! best Pictures ever on NMB>>>> Even better than all my FOOD pictures.. The boat is between Alfred and Roots. When we talked to them they were trying to get it out of the water but the trailer wheels buried up in the sand. They were looking for a larger tractor to pull it out with.. Be a Traveler

That boat is the same boat that hit a reef at Mary's Bay. The owner is the gentleman that is currently running the Bar and Grill @ Mary's bay. Great pictures Dreadneck. Now, let's see the video... "One World, One Love"

I second that emotion!! All beautiful pics, Sel. Thanks. Glad to see so many shots of Mayfield -- inspire me to get the girls back up there this year, think they're both finally old enough to navigate the river. And about Fun Holiday's new shoreline -- on the plus side, I guess that hideous payphone finally had to go. By the looks of that photo, it would be partially submerged! http://vhmckenzie.blogspot.com

yet another excellent series... well worth the wait. i'm sure your body felt it the next day if you had to sit and rest going down, just looking at the pic of crossing the bridge made me feel woozy. its true the flora along a riverbank will almost always be full and lush. an amazing eyefull of mother nature. alot of bamboo and ferns and wicker vines tend to grow in the area of most rivers giving it the tropical rain forest effect. one of my favorite jamaican passtimes would be going into the hills of hanover and westmoreland in search of little known waterfalls, sitting on a flat rock, bare feet in the cool refreshing running river water amidst the shade of a bamboo tree with sketch book in hand. yep, it was easy to see the river was a bit low, though there is always that fluctuation depending on amounts of rain fall. an interesting study may be to return to the same place during rainy season. the flow would be much more intense and forceful... make for nice contrast. thanks for sharing selvin. as always: keep on clicking!
