Day 3, Sunday, October 25, 2009

Mi Lady and I awoke to another gorgeous Jamaican morning. Bright blue skies, clouds rimming the Caribbean. A wonderful discussion with Sharlton, one of the gardeners at the Co Co. Looks like another perfect day in Paradise.

We had breakfast at the Co Co again. It seems to be becoming a habit. Elvis serenaded us at our breakfast for about ¾ hour. He has a very nice voice.

We took a chance and walked right this morning, north past Couples Negril. Lots more beach at Treehouse.

The sky was just beautiful! There is nothing like the sky and its changes like the Caribbean.

We walked back to the Co Co LaPalm and relaxed on the beach the remainder of the afternoon. The water was so warm – warmer than I can remember it being in Jamaica.

Norman, the Pattyman came by, pushing his bicycle. We stopped him and ordered 4 patties – 2 vegetable (callaloo mostly), 2 beef (mystery meat) - $400J plus tip. And, of course a RS from the For Real. Everything hit the spot.

Watched the white hats do their job.

We went back to our hacienda to change into our evening shorts and tank top. Then Mi Lady and I strolled down to Aqua (formerly Aqua Moon) for the sunset webcast, arriving shortly after “I don’t have a clue”. (You ever notice that clocks are meaningless in Jamaica most of the time?)

We met up with MoGlenn and Sweetsop once again and of course Rob Graves, Buckeye fan extraordinaire.

We had some rum drinks – the Aqua has lots of different rums from which to choose. I don’t recall the exact number. I think rum was a factor.

We were entertained by the bartender with a great sense of balance.

The sun set again on another perfect day!

We said our goodbyes and began our walk back to the Co Co. First we had to stop to see our friend Delroy at Island Twist.

He was really worried about his job in April because of new management coming in. Now he is very relaxed and happy. This is another fine gentleman that I could spend an afternoon with. Oh, I already had, several times- something about good conversation and $ 150J Red Stripe does it for me every time.

Mi Lady and I dined on Callaloo pizza – $ 13.00 US - very good, but no pix. Mi belly won out on that one.

We continued our saunter up the beach to the For Real (where else) and a dose of Maureen.

While there we had some excitement.

There was a British couple seated at the opposite side of the bar and a Jamaican seated very close to the women, who was trying her best to stay away from the Jamaican. After a bit of observing what was gwan, Maureen lit into the Jamaican, not understanding Patois, I don’t know what was discussed. But the Jamaican hustler lost the discussion and was kicked out of the bar and Maureen told him that she did not want to see him in her bar again. The British couple was relieved to see him go.

No different than here – the economy has brought out the worst in some people. We did notice a marked increase in downright begging this reach.

We sauntered over to our abode and crashed for the evening. Tomorrow is Red Dragon day! Yippee!!

It was difficult getting readjusted to the Michigan routine. Fortunately, I had the rest of the week off of work. Helen had to go back on Wednesday - it was hard.
