We visited there in 2006 with Kat & Garrett. Named after a friendly donkey who resides near the back of the property it's up the west end road maybe a mile past the lighthouse if my memory (on special cake day) serves me. The property is beautiful and has an ocean side with a rocky but ocean level terrain. All three of the pics below are on the ocean side. On the inland side there are several very nice thatch roofed "cottages" scattered about. These were all in private garden settings with really nice tile bathrooms and a big garden where Rasta "Chisty" grows lots of things for his wonderful Ital preparations. There was a small kitchen great room central to the property. I shot a nice video tour while there but have not posted it online.

They've done quite a bit of work on it since 2006 - built a "great house", they have a terrific outdoor dining area and kitchen as well as a brand new "state of the art" indoor kitchen...several rooms in a couple of buildings that are quite sweet and cute and one seaside cottage - small and rustic but lovely. The grounds are landscaped marvelously and their caretaker maintains one of the best organic vegetable gardens I've seen in Negril. It's located past the Lighthouse, diagonally across from the new Moondance Villas Cliffs. Its a great place if you want something a bit more out of the "mix" - perfect for groups to rent out the whole place. www.tingalayasretreat.com http://nikkikamens.squarespace.com

Rastagirl777 posted this info on Tripadvisor. "Tingalaya is not close at all to the Westender...2, maybe 3 miles? My distance sense is very off, you COULD walk it but I'd say its a pretty long walk and there's a stretch in the road which is quite desolate. Tingalaya is about a 10 minute walk from where West End Road turns south and Westender is the last developed hotel before you go up the hill towards Revival and Orange Hill." http://tingalayasretreat.com/ Inside every older person is a younger person wondering 'What the heck happened?'

Seriously eh. Looks great. Anyone staying there needs wheels though. It's a long hike to anywhere. Inside every older person is a younger person wondering 'What the heck happened?'

Well...not necessarily true (about the wheels). Its about a 10 minute walk to where West End Road turns south/intersects (for lack of a better term) with Hylton Ave...in other words, for landmark's sake - Out of Town Pastry. You could walk to the Lighthouse, LTU, etc...that'll take about 25 minutes. But right across from the patty shop is a cab stand of sorts - route taxis come fairly frequently during the day. Also, with MDV pretty close by there is more taxi traffic on that part of West End Road than there used to be. BP - I think you misunderstood and had Tingalaya going the other way, closer to the rise to Revival...when I say that West End Road turns south it actually does so in three spots - by SamSara, then up by Hylton Ave, then again by where Secret Paradise is supposed to be. Jackies on the Reef and the Westender are after that third turn south. Tingalaya - after the second. Am I making sense? I can really be a direction moron... http://nikkikamens.squarespace.com

Had to correct my original post. The Ras at Tingalaya is Jubey, a wonderful host and talented chef/gardener. Chisty was the ital chef at Idle Awhile and I think is now in a west end capacity. Respect, RastaRich 3 Kuyaba - 7 Citronella

monk, Please do me a favour and on this wikimapia link drag the image to the + so that the + is centered right where Tingalaya's is located. http://wikimapia.org/#lat=18.2462767&lon=-78.3597922&z=17&l=0&m=b Inside every older person is a younger person wondering 'What the heck happened?'

http://wikimapia.org/#lat=18.2419513&lon=-78.3545995&z=18&l=0&m=b Took my best guess here...but the map itself seems old, and Wiki Maps are notoriously innacurate...because they have dufuses like me putting stuff in there, lol. Basing on where they have Out of Town Pastry (which is accurate because that Marl Road coming up from it is most definitely Hylton Ave.) I've given an approximte location. http://nikkikamens.squarespace.com

| It is a half mile to walk to Out of Town Pastry from LTU/Citronella/Lighthouse area. Tingalaya's is approximately another half mile (a ten minute walk) from where the road splits by Out of Town Pastry. I hope this helps. |

One of my favorite spots on the planet. Soooo nice out there and many improvements made to the property in recent years. Have not stayed there but know Jubey and have visited many times. I do hope to stay there sometime soon.
