| In the past my sim card for my Jamaican cell has been in use while I was away but not this year. I realize I have to get a new one but can I somehow retrieve the numbers from my old phone book? |

yup, just plug it in, if the numbers save to the sim, they will pop up in the new phone whether the sim is live or not. if the numbers store to the handset, then they are in that memory.

Many phone allow you to transfer numbers back and forth between card and phone memories ........ give it a try

I recently switched to ATT. They had a machine that transferred phone #'s via the SIM card.
