| Can anyone give me their thoughts on Sunset on the Beach. Would love to be in Negril for New Years Eve. Their rates looked pretty good for high season, seems like a lot of resorts are full. Getting down to the wire on options. Thank you in advance. |

My brother was asking about there earlier this week for the Christmas break. This is what I told him and the links have a real instead of professional pictures: We had to walk by Sunset on the Beach on our way to the market so figured we may as well stop. We would describe the room as a basic, functional room. By US standards the bathroom is a bit rundown. Rest of the room OK. Pictures are at http://upourcreek.com/gallery/sunsetonthebeach The beach area is nice on top but is a little steep heading to the water though not a real big deal. They seem to have plenty of shade and nice loungers. We got a flyer from the office and the high season rates are $105 for two for the Superior room. There will also be 8.25% tax and a 10% holiday increase. Don't know what kind of prices you are getting online but thought I would share that. Just for grins we checked the rooms at Sun Garden. This is across the road and up the beach a little from town. The pictures for it are at http://upourcreek.com/gallery/sungarden. The rate here for that time is $80 per night and they have availability. I would say the rooms are comparable at either place, basic but functional. The grounds, and outside is nicer at Sunset and of course it is on the beach. Sunset also has a restaurant/bar which can be convenient. Just thought I would give you this for comparison. A disadvantage on Sun Garden is that is a busy time and you have to use a part of the beach that is open. These may be busier at that time and harder to find a beach chair at. |
