greetings all

the vibes for the trip my dawta and i are taking to negril have really fallen into place since it's inception in thought. from making the reservations, to getting a deal on the plane tickets, to getting our passports in less than two weeks, to the timely renewal of my driver's license (they mail them to you now here in nc) to getting a confirmation from JUTA/negril for a ride from the airport to negril (ONLY 18 USD per person) to our COUNTDOWN of 31 days!!! it seems so real now. many of you know that i have been trying to get to jamaica for a few years now, and every time it was gonna happen, something more important came up...as in wrecked cars, broken down cars, ill child etc etc...and now that we are REALLY coming i feel kinda moved to tears. cannot wait to meet those of you that live there and those of you that will be there during the time we will be there....SMITH will you be there during december? we must meet up if so...yetta, laurel, debd...anyone going to be there? maybe we can get possession of a couple horses and ride across the island and visit jamaicajewel...HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA i am out of my gourd...
give thanks to all of you that have contributed invaluable information in all things...it has been truly apprecialoved.
all our things are gathered together...except for a travel iron and a clothesline we are good to go...water shoes have been ordered and are on their way...tsl locks are the only other thing we need for our luggage...oh and a bathmat (give thanks markospoon for that vibe cos my child has ms and i would hate for her to have a fall and then a possible exacerbation of an episode from a fall...give thanks she is basically okay)
blessings in abundance to all the I's
Sis Irijah

We have a box of stuff that we leave at the hotel where we stay so we don't have to bring the coffeepot, toaster, snorkeling stuff etc. back and forth (we're on trip #46 in December). I've had a travel iron in the box for the last 30 trips and used it once. We never use the AC so I hang up the clothes that are wrinkled and the humidity "irons" the wrinkles out. Believe me I'm an ironing nut but this really works.
Have a wonderful trip and can't wait to hear about it when you return.

i hope the heat doesn't exacerbate your dawta

my brother had ms and couldn't tolerate it

and leave the iron at home

you won't need it

or you can get someone to do it for you - reasonably

Soon come! Would love to meet pon the rock! You are going to have such a great time. There is something so special about the first visit. It overwhelms you, so take time to relax while on the plane and get ready for the time of your life.

Don't plan too much, just kind of let it happen...seems like the best times occur this way. Will be at Seastar for a couple weeks then heading to Jajewel's yet not on horseback! LOL!

Can't wait to hear all about your trip.

Yes it's humid in December. Not as bad as April but compared to Michigan in the winter where it's so dry you get shocks in your house and your hair stands straight up from static electricity it's humid. I normally have straight hair but in Jamaica it resembles a blond Betty Boop style. I agree with Seveen it helps with the wrinkles on the body as well.

Sis, since you mentioned concerns about slips, be mindful of the floors in your room, stairs, hallways, anywhere there is smooth tile (its all over, LOL) and water - RAIN, etc.

Flip flops can hydroplane on a wet surface, tread carefully, and go slow any where that is wet and smooth!

Joyous Anticipation to you! I'm sure we will run into each other.

ROB -

OOowwwaaaa

Hmmm, now you are the poster child for Caution - Wet Floors!

A reason to check out Dr. Grant's new clinic?

Is there a chiropractor in Negril? Just wondering.

Hope you feel better soon. Drink lots of water, it helps with muscle spasms. And use an ice pack. On the sore spots...

Hi Sunshine:
I'm in Bloomfield Hills so I'm sure our weather is the same. Freezing!! I'm sitting at the computer in my turtleneck, flannel shirt, socks, and boots and thinking about getting the space heater.
I see we're a day apart leaving in December. We always go in the spring as well and I've been checking airfare for March for months. This morning Northwest has direct flights for mid-March for $359.00. I now have another countdown March 15 - April 1 (if I successfully figure out how to post 2 countdowns). Yahoo!

rob, if you can get hold of some pure oregano oil (essential oil) and mix it in a bottle 1/4 oregano oil to 1/4 olive oil and let it sit for a few hours...then rub it on all the places that hurt...you will feel relief. pure oregano oil can also be used when one has a cut or a place that may scar...just dab it on full strength several times a day and it will reduce scarring and expedite healing.
you might also want to get some of cherry's oil...i know when i reach that is one thing i am going to purchase several of...

and all you ladies that will be there when we will...maybe we can arrange a ladies day out and just roam around and giggle all day....

love you all

SisI ...

how long is your reach ??? when do you return ??

I have come in here to beg a favor ...

I put a request out on another board for anyone reaching soon and returning back to the States to please carry something back and send to me upon their return.

just something small - would not take up space/weight ...

Mr. would get it for me and get it to you ....

If I do not get any "takers" over there ... could I beg you??

Congratulations, Sisirijah! You're almost down to 30 days! You must be getting so excited. It's nice that you will be experiencing it for the first time with your daughter. It will be very special. I've taken my daughters since they were little and now they're equally addicted.

Yes, it's so amazing how much healthier I feel there. Must be all the good food, walking, sea water, and rum! Always come home feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.
