I was just wondering if anyone has made friends on the board and met up to travel together.
Seems like all of my friends at home are growing out of their desire (or ability) to travel to Negril with me! The horror! :-)

I have gone alone, and of course enjoyed myself, but I like traveling with others.

Any suggestions?

I generally meet up with 8 or so people that I know from forums while in JA but have yet to travel with one on a plane.

IMO unless you know what they look for in a vacation you might end up being paired up with people with different tastes. For example, some like to party 24/7, some like to shag 24/7 and some like to sit on a beach reading a book 24/7.

Maybe pre-planned events might be a way to start?

ME!ME!ME!ME !! Never in one million years would I have thought I would meet some people and be flying with them, visiting state to state once in awhile. But mostly we meet in Jammy Land. I met Lady Rider, St. Louis Sally, and a few more. I am just thrilled to call these people my friends. If you would have told me that back in 98 I would have laughed so hard. It's awesome whom you meet. All kinds of people from all walks of life. Never boring. And always interesting. I would suggest go to some webcasts meet some people see how it go's . I flew down to St. Louis met up with LR and flew on down. I could never have a better friend.
Karma ! Belive it.

I do know the feeling I do not like to travel alone but seem to find myself doing it more all of the time since all of my friends are married or have kids or some are just always broke as a joke....I am always willing to travel anywhere...hell I went to Chicago by myself not that long ago just to see a nice concert....but I guess that is just how it goes when your 38 single and have no kids....life could be worse....alot worse...I could be married still...lol...lol.......

We have never made plans to travel together but have made plans to meet up with someone while traveling. Didn't count how many boardies we met for the first time at ROTR. So far this trip we have met/remet about a dozen. Even did some traveling with two if you call catching a taxi to Red Dragon traveling, lol.

i have meet loads of boardies over the years

there is one i talk to everyday and we visit each other's homes in the states

there is a group of us that meet in jamaica - usually july and december for christmas and new years

that december trip always feels like home for the holidays to be with family

we stay at various hotels, connect via cell phones, hang on the beach together, break into smaller groups to "tour"

we even met up at one boardies house for memorial day - there were 7 of us

it's nice having boardie family - they don't roll their eyes when you say jamaica - LOL

We've thrown out invites to extended friends and coworkers, folks we really don't know that well necessarily.

Some folks have been surprised - "how could you share your vacation with someone you don't know that well" - we know everyone will love Jamaica and Negril, and don't hold folks to any commitments once there.

If we are going to do something (day trip, move from beach/cliff etc), we tell whoever is traveling with us at the time - they are free to join in or not. No worries either way.

Had some great times with folks we might not have ever spent that much time with. Helps a lot if a great deal comes up for airfare or package.
