| Have stayed at Negril Gardens/Grand Pineapple for the past 8 years this year the price is through the roof. We are looking at either Rooms or country Country. Food should be no problem as there are so many restaunts. What would the cost of Lunch/Dinner be on the Road Vs West End |

Same. It depends on what you eat. There is a big difference in resort styles between Rooms and Country Country with Rooms being more of a conventional hotel/motel style and CC being boutique wood frame cottages. You may remember Rooms as the old Negril Inn. Inside every older person is a younger person wondering 'What the heck happened?'

places to eat on da beach or beach road are generally more expensive than the Cliffs.....to a degree..... ------------------------------------------------------- personally mi not sure which I would pick....... as Blues said they are two completely different kind of places to stay at...... you talking about board cottages with no screens versus two story concrete buildings..... it's like here in the vacation areas of N America......would you rather stay in a wooden cottage or in concrete hotel? mi stayed at Rooms when it was Negril Inn and now with the total remodel you probably have a very nice room...... pick a spot that you feel totally comfortable...... and after 8 trips der you should have a pretty good feel for Negril and where to stay........ mi not even sure which place mi would pick over da other...... but mi would pick Rooms over say da Palms or Shields....... and mi would pick Country Country over Ansell Cottages or JahB's cottages or Tropical Fantasy...... We have stayed at Country Country in a stand alone cottage and I would stay there again in a heartbeat. They have nice bathrooms, ref, coffeemakers, TV, Sitting areas with couch and desk, and large porches to sit out on and just chill. Very romantic. Their beach is small but we are beach walkers and don't do much laying out.

I would say Country Country. They aren't just wood cottages, they are beautiful unique lodgings with all the amenities. But as Marko stated they are both very different resorts, it depends on the kind of vibe/feel you want. I must say the breakfasts that come with the lodging at Country Country is so good! And they will bring it to your porch if you request. http://irie-negril-jamaica.blogspot.com/

I have never stayed at Rooms but did stay at Country Country in Dec. 2005. Since then they have added another building closer to the beach and have expanded their beach. Here are some pics that show the character of Country Country.

I've stayed at both Country Country last year for the first time and Rooms just a few weeks past. I liked the vibes at Country Country much better. The room I'd gotten came with a full breakfast. The food was a wonderful Jamaican breakfast with callaloo and saltfish, plantains, and fried dumplings. Mmmmmmm mmmmmm! Back to the room- It had a nice marble and tiled bathroom with great water pressure, fridge and radio/cd play and a comfy bed. The headboard was made of bamboo. The room had a king as well as a twin sized bed. It also had a great porch with a table and chairs. It seemed so private. Both Rooms & Country are smaller properties. Rooms is a nice property in the center of the beach. The room had a flat panel tv mounted to the wall. (no fridge) also a nice bathroom. The room was smaller than most places I've stayed, but it was very clean. The restaurant was just okay. My personal preference between the two is Country Country.

We just got back from Negril on Sunday evening 11/1/09. We've not stayed at either Rooms or Country Country. Last year we did check out Rooms. This past Friday evening we ate dinner at Country Country. The meal was good and we had a table right overlooking the beach on the deck. Between the two if I had to choose I'd pick Country Country. The feel of the place is more authentic than Rooms. Rooms seemed like a nice place but we prefer opening the louvered shades to listen to the tree frogs over AC, smaller vs. bigger, etc. We always stay at Idle Awhile but Country Country looked very appealing.

We stayed at Country Country and had a great time. For us a refrigerator is key. We go to Shamrock and stock up on supplies and wander up and down the beach. Stayed at Grand Pineapple in September. It was very nice but we prefer non AI in Negril. First time we'd done AI since going to the Riu Tropical Bay when it opened. We've stayed at Rondel Village the most. Where ever you go you will have a great time.
