WOO HOO!!!!!!!! Just booked our flight!!

We're thinking of changing things up a bit this trip. We are cliff dwellers but we're thinking of staying on the beach this time. Does anyone have suggestions for beach hotels for us cliff loving folks? I'm not looking for fancy. Something comparable to Xtabi. Also not wayyyyy down the beach towards the AI's. If were doing the beach we want to be in the thick of it all.

Oh man I am so excited!!!!! Makes me so happy to book the flight!!! Especially when Air Jamaica has a sale!! Thank you AJ!!!

Happy Sunday everyone and thanks in advance for your replies!

Rooms on the Beach looks nice. We stay at the Co Co LaPalm. We have the past 5 reaches. Rooms is a tad cheaper.

Today's weather: Sunny and Hot, Hot, Hot!

Another good way is to check in to the Co Co LaPalm's webcams, although it looks like rain there right now....

Still the same old Woody. Call or Email and find out what kind of rate they will make for you. I know this is a great place, not to far away but, easy to find. Very safe with great shows right there. Daniel Grizzle is the owner and the best man I have ever had the pleasure to meet in my life. All the food served there is grown by his family on their farm. "Keri" so nice for you..!! ENJOY..!!

From another person with a great affection for the cliffs for the past 4 years- we are looking to book a february vacation at Rooms on the beach...very clean or Fun Holiday would be what I recommend. Our travel buddies always stay on the beach, so I have seen the rooms and the property. good luck!

I loved our stay at Rooms, good location on the beach, and nice rooms. Book directly through Superclubs and request a beachfront room on the first floor, you can't go wrong. Those rooms are awesome! It's only a few extra $$ for the beachfront rooms, but in my opinion, they are worth it. Book 1901, 1902 or 1903, 5 steps and you are on the beach!

I love White Sands for a cheap clean place in the middle of it all and with a great bar (2 for 1 drink specials all day everyday).

What a poor weatherman you are, lol. No rain at that time. It was cloudy most of the day but no rain at all. If you were looking at the cameras 20 minutes later you may have seen me walk by!

Travelers and Shields have pretty good prices..their food is really good, and Shields makes some pretty good drinks. They also have a nice pool with a swim up bar that has a view of the ocean. And the pool at Travelers has a wonderful mural all around it.

Go the library and look at the October (as I recall) Caribbean Travel & Life Magazine and look up the article of the best beach towns.

In the article for Negril they recommend Idle Awhile (idleawhile.com). Idle Awhile is between Cocoa LaPalm and Charlea Inn. What makes it unique is that it's owned by the Isaas - the same people that own Couples Negril, Couples Swept Away, Couples Sans Suchi, etc.

Idle Awhile has had a lot of good press and for good reasons. My wife and I 10 years ago walked into a travel agent to set up a 25th wedding anniversary trip. The first year was to Couples Ocho Rios and Couples Negril. The following 2 years were to Couples Negril.

The 4th year I did some research on tripadvisor.com and saw that Idle Awhile had a stellar rating. Booked the trip and surprised my wife with a week she wasn't expecting - at a cost that was reasonable.

Why Idle Awhile? Look at the pictures of the rooms. The rooms at Idle Awhile are much the same as the Couples resorts. Mrs. Issa did the decorating. The bathrooms were renovated in the last 2 years.

This is a small property - there's one building with only 8 rooms with additional suites with more rooms.

A few years back while staying at Idle Awhile my wife noticed that the actor that at the time played Sarck on the TV show Alias on the beach next to us. It was quite interesting talking with him and his companion about the show. He said that Jennifer Garner was on maternity leave so they took the chance to get away during a break in filming. Interestingly the folks at the front desk had no clue that they had a celebrity staying there. I suppose that they liked it that way as well.

What is it we like? It's smack dab in the middle of the 7 mile beach. A 5 minute walk to Margaritaville. The rooms have very large and private balconys - almost another room. We prefer the 2nd floor rooms as the balcony is more private. The folks at Idle Awhile are wonderful.

They have a beach front bar/restaurant that many from neighboring resorts visit. Drinks and meals are excellent and reasonably priced.

The main thing we like is the privacy and how small the resort is. Small means being able to talk to the chef at the beach front restaurant and asking him what's good tonight - then telling him how you want it cooked. The "vibe" there is more upscale than other similar resorts - look at the rooms online and you'll see.

I second the Idle Awhile option. My wife and I just returned from a wonderful stay on that property. We have been traveling to Negril for 15 years and have never stayed at a nicer place. The room decor is chic and comfortable. We were in room #106. Everything was beautiful. Staff is wonderful and the beach is big and secure. Your chairs will be waiting for you every morning. Enjoy your stay. Peace.

I always stay at NBCC's. Call Jean, DeAndre or Tracy (I think). Make sure you get Jeans rooms! I like it there! Great service, great resturant, great access to beach, I have been lucky and no security issues! GOOD LUCK!

Idle Awhile and Coco are on a great stretch of beach!

We've stayed at Charela and it was okay - don't think we'll go back. We've stayed at Coco with our kids and enjoyed it. But, always admired Idle Awhile and plan on trying it sometime.

Our next trip is an anniversary celebration so we are staying at Swept Away but I think the next trip after will be Idle Away.

Love to explore!

We've stayed at Coco La Palm, Rondel, Country Country, Grand Pineapple, and the Riu Tropical Bay. Sounds like Rondel would work well for you. Follow the link below to check pricing.

Another recommendation for CocoLaPalm. Has been my favorite place (so far) on the beach and close to good places to eat. People who work there are wonderful.
