Are they see through? It looked like it on one of the sites. I would only want one if it could be worn as a beachwear dress. Tawnee and Tracy? Too bad about the straps....really looks nice!!! |

They are see-through - it is definately to be used as a cover-up or as a top with pants. (if the straps will stay up) I have sent an email to the company for some help on the strap issue and am working on my own solution ~~profile picture taken by Dreadneck~~ for the annual Boardie meeting & my 45th birthday

Since I have not yet tried a Saress in my correct size ( first one too small )...I will hold out on my final thoughts on the strap issue.

Okay girls - I have no one here with me to take a picture and trying to get a shot of my back by myself (even with the timer) was just pissing me off. I wanted to share with you what I have been trying today and what seems to be working to keep those pesky straps up. 1. Ribbon, cord, fabric strips - anything sturdy that would not rip easily or fray and that is soft on the skin. Put Saress on - take one long piece of above options in one hand - place one end underneath one strap on your back (you can do this easily if you work at the back of your neck) pull the ribbon across to the other shoulder strap - bring the ends together and tie them. You can then wiggle this further down your back to adjust for comfort ***Big Thanks to Countryman for suggesting this 2. Use a magnetic necklace - I just bought a couple at the flea market $5 each - use it the same as the above instructions - this was extremely easy to do on my own and is much fancier - you also then have some jewellery for another time (these can be used as bracelets also) 3. Use a long hair barrette - this was another really easy fix to do without any help (clasping it at the back as well) You can not move it as easily as the necklace but it still works *barrettes can be purchased at a dollar store & in many colors My personal favorite is the magnetic necklace - it is comfortable and there is alot you can do with it Hope this is some help!!} ~~profile picture taken by Dreadneck~~ for the annual Boardie meeting & my 45th birthday

I have some photos that I took using my hung up coat as a model - it shows the different clasps I experimented with. For some reason I am unable to post pictures at this time - will try again later. ~~profile picture taken by Dreadneck~~ for the annual Boardie meeting & my 45th birthday

We used to do this as kids when we swam for hours at the YMCA. Those stripped speedo suits..remember them? that everyone used to wear always had problems with the straps getting stretched out from so much arm movement. We didn't use anything fancy, just a shoelace but it worked and we could swim to our hearts content. This must have been before the racer back came out! lol Good research Tawnee 'Act the way you'd like to be and soon you'll be the way you act'... Leonard Cohen The Spratters --- 1978

I haven't seen those in Canada, but just saw something similar at London Drugs. A pkg of three, white, nude & black, but more like an elastic short strap that hooks the two bra straps together - works on the same principle. I almost bought a pkg. I think they were around $9 for a pack.

Are the straps adjustable (kinda sorta looks it in the photos)? Have you tried tightening - shortening the straps? . Not sure if it is just my droopy shoulders or what - I have tried the straps at every size possible - they still fall off my shoulders. ~~profile picture taken by Dreadneck~~ for the annual Boardie meeting & my 45th birthday

no disrespect tawnee.....think i would just send them back...the ties/strings etc. look a little tacky to me. it really ruins the look of a lovely cover-up. sorry. "Take Me As I Am" Mary J. Blige

no disrespect taken Wendy - they have a 10 day return policy and I am way beyond that so I had to make the best of a bad situation. I would have definately sent them back. ~~profile picture taken by Dreadneck~~ for the annual Boardie meeting & my 45th birthday

well that sucks. is it possible to use a sewing ripper and rip the front straps off and move them closer in ? sounds like they would be fine if you were a woman with broad shoulders, but like you, i have rounded shoulders also. "Take Me As I Am" Mary J. Blige

Or how about crissxcrossing the straps? That would keep them in place for sure. Might require a little mental exercise getting it on correctly though, lol! Has anyone asked George or Saress about the straps? It can't be just travelers to Jamaica that are having a problem (or could it be? ) . I'm stickin with the barettes. I see nothing wrong with the way it looks. It is a quick fix and something that I can put on and off quickly by myself. Same idea as the sarong clips that are already on the market

strap perfect can be purchased at Walgreens I have 'slopey' shoulders also and move straps on almost everything I buy.....easy to do even if you arent a seamstress. Since you have extra length with the straps you could just fold the strap over towards the center of your back and tack it into place with a few stitches.
