Daniel Grizzle is a special member of the Negril community who has had business success and has contributed toward the Negril community over many years. Originally from Cold Spring, Hanover, he came to Negril in 1975 after 14 years in England with French wife Sylvie. The beauty of the area as well as a growing tourism trade attracted the couple to settle here. Mrs. Grizzle was encouraged by many friends to open a restaurant because of her excellent cooking skills and the result was their first business, a restaurant called Café au Lait which was located behind where Mi Yard is today. After a year and a half the couple leased Mirage hotel which at the time consisted of only four cottages. Interestingly Mr. Grizzle was to make the deal in a Paris Café after the then owner spotted him in a busy Parisian street.

In 1980 the couple then acquired Charela Inn and have since transformed the hotel from 10 rooms to 49 and have also built the restaurant (La Vendome) to have the reputation as one of the best in Negril.

Mr. Grizzle was president of the Negril Chamber of Commerce from 1985 – 1990, has been a board member of the Tourist Product Development Corporation and the Jamaica Tourist Board. He was part of the Green Negril Committee and is presently a director of Negril.Com.

Mr. Grizzle is known for his compassion for his fellow Jamaicans and his active contribution towards issues which affect the environment, education and the economy.

When asked why he stayed here he replied,” once you’ve spent at least two years in Negril, you’re addicted". Don’t we know it……
