A doctor from the Caribbean Medical Mission examines one of the many patients that they have seen since they have been in Jamaica. The Mission's tour from Oct 17 to 23 included Lucea, Petersfield, Sav La Mar and Negril. These pictures were taken at Travellers Resort in Negril on Saturday. The organisation was formed 10 years ago and has Dr Rudolph Willis as president and 5 other doctors and three nurses as permanent team members. The doctors who are mostly from the Caribbean decided to give back to the needy in New Jersey (where they are based) and throughout the Caribbean and Africa. The free treatment includes general check ups, blood work, pap smears and medication. The team includes an Optomologist, an Obstetrician, a Dentist, a General Practitioner,a surgeon, nurses and other essential personnel.
Some of the medicine provided on their trips is from pharmaceutical companies but alot is actually purchased by the organisation itself.
This trip to Jamaica was facilitated by Mr. Winston Wellington (owner of Travellers Resort) who had the Team stay at the hotel and also worked with the Rotary Clubs and Negril and local health authorities.
We here at Negril.com want to say a big thank you to everyone involved.
